Adelaide United continued their stunning fairytale run with a dominant 3-0 victory over Brisbane Roar on Saturday.

With second place up for grabs, United never looked threatened as they gave the Roar a lesson in attacking football.

Adelaide began this decisive encounter as the superior player, displaying sharpness and danger in attack with eagerness in defence.

As a result, the home side produced a flurry of early opportunities that put the Roar right under the pump.

The first opportunity would fall the way of Djite who linked up beautifully with Carrusca before slashing his shot wide of the goals.

One minute later Tarek Elrich produced one of his stellar solo runs to open up the Roar defence and earn Adelaide a corner.

And remarkably from the resulting corner, Jordan Elsey would strike the post with a powerful and intentional header that had the Roar completely rattled.

The Coopers Stadium crowd smiled in unison as they watched their team display breathtaking football; something that has become very regular of late.

Adelaide failed however to open the scoring from this positive start which allowed Brisbane to enter the game for the first time.

Brandan Borrello created space up forward while Henrique was now providing darting runs and proving to be a nuisance for the Adelaide defence.

It was certainly a more threatening Brisbane and although Adelaide still maintained possession; we now had a contest.

This top of the table clash then entered a momentary lull in which action was hard to find.

It seemed apparent this was how we would enter half time, however just minutes before the interval the hosts went ahead.

A delightful cut back from Sergio Cirio found the energetic Kamau who finished expertly on his left to make it 1-0.

This late dagger crushed Brisbane ensuring their start to the second half was messy and negative.

The visitors miss directed passes, gave away too much space and ultimately the worst of all, let Adelaide score a second in the 51st minute.

Bruce Djite struck home from close range after Bruce Kamau’s shot was parried away from Theo.

With the lead now firmly secured Adelaide were able to play their football with little pressure or worry.

They continued to dominate possession while creating many glorious chances.

In the 80th minute the result was all but confirmed as Adelaide added a third through Sanchez.

Bruce Djite weaved and dodged his way into the box before his deflected shot fell into the path of Sanchez.

The full time whistle eventually blew bringing to an end a comfortable and commanding performance from the hosts.

Adelaide remarkably jumps to second on the A League table and just two points behind the Wanderers.

Meanwhile Brisbane falls to third with a mouthwatering clash with the Wanderers to come.
