W-League | Coaches make Grand Final predictions

It’s grand final week in the W-League and once again it’s time to see what the head honchoes from across the country are thinking heading into the big dance.

Defending champions Melbourne City travel west to take on Perth Glory in what is sure to be a cracker of a match.

Haven’t made up your mind about who will win? See below for some words of wisdom…

Mel Andreatta – Brisbane Roar

Thoughts: “Based on recent performances I think Perth are the team to beat. It’s always hard to travel there and I think it will be quite a game, it’s going to be a spectacle but I think Perth has the firepower to take out the game.”

Prediction: 1-1 AET but after that it’s too close to call!

Craig Deans – Newcastle Jets

Thoughts: “Being an ex-Perth Glory player my heart says that Glory will win. They’ve obviously got enough attacking weapons in Sammy Kerr, Di Bernardo and Rosie Sutton. Melbourne City have got plenty of attacking threats as well but I’ll go for Perth with the game being at home.”

Prediction: 3-2 Perth

Jeff Hopkins – Melbourne Victory

Thoughts: “It’s going to be a pretty even affair I think. Sam Kerr is a player that on her day can do things that, at times, are unstoppable. On the other side of things, as an all-round side, you have to look at City and think that player for player they’ve got a bit more than Perth. My gut feeling is I’m going a bit towards Perth but in saying that I wouldn’t be putting any money on it!”

Prediction: 3-2 Perth

Rae Dower – Canberra United

Thoughts: “I want football to be the winner and hope it’s an entertaining match in front of a big crowd.”

Prediction: 1-0 to football

Daniel Barrett – Sydney FC

Thoughts: “This one will be hard to pick. Perth with this season’s best player in Sam Kerr against the experienced squad of City led by Jess Fishlock. My tip is City in a close, even contest.”

Prediction: Nuh uh

Huss Skenderovic – Adelaide United

Thoughts: Huss is far too busy enjoying his holidays and getting a tan for thinking at the moment!

Prediction: Four, maybe five mojitos

Richard Byrne – Western Sydney Wanderers

Thoughts: “It’ll be a tight one and I think it’ll be a fantastic game. They’ve both got fantastic players but I’m edging towards Melbourne. I think there will be goals in the game but I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to penalties.”

Prediction: It’s a final, could be anything!!

Well there you have it. Most are leaning towards Perth, especially at home. The again, City won’t mind that one bit.
