Adelaide United braced for turbulent off season

Following Adelaide United’s dismal title defence the off season is the perfect time for the Reds to take stock, reset and give themselves the best chance of finding success in season 2017/18.

The ball of rejuvenation is already rolling at Coopers Stadium with coach Gui Amor and a bevy of experienced players signing off at the club for the final time following the Reds’ elimination from the Asian Champions League in the group stage last week.

Amor spent two years at the top of the United coaching tree leading the club to its only double in the 2016/17 season – his first in charge.

He wasn’t able to back it up this season though and the Reds languished to ninth on the ladder at the end of the campaign. After the club’s final ACL outing – a one-nil loss at home – Amor put a stop to the rumour mill and announced that he had managed his last Reds game.

The roster speculation will continue until the Adelaide United board can find a replacement for Amor.

Until such a time, predictions on United’s resurrection will remain hazy at best. Punters will see fluctuating odds as the next roster falls into place, but can keep abreast of the Reds’ odds at sunvegascasino.com, which has access to a range of bookies and their prices.

Amor will be holding the door for club stars Dylan McGowan and Sergio Cirio on his way out. McGowan has confirmed he is heading to Europe to play for Portugal’s Pacos Ferreira in the Primeira Liga, while it is widely believed that Cirio will end up at Central Coast Mariners.

Additionally, skipper and Socceroos goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic’s future at the club remain highly doubtful and there are question marks over the likes of Iacopo La Rocca, Kim Jae-Sung, Marcelo Carrusca and Mark Ochieng, amongst others.

Also leaving the club are fringe players George Mells, Jesse Makarounas and John Hall, none of whom have had their contracts renewed.

An alternative source for fans looking for expert odds is www.toponlinecasinos.co.za, which again lists a number of bookies for the perusal of those looking for the best price.

Amor and United were criticised heavily for not replacing the throng of stars that left the club after the unprecedented success of season 2016/17. Whoever takes over at Coopers will want to avoid a repeat of this season by signing the best players available early. The fans will be expecting nothing less.
