Perth Glory have gone top in the Westfield W-League thanks to 4-1 win over Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium.

Rachel Hill was the star of the show grabbing a hat-trick while Sam Kerr also got her name on the scoresheet for the Western Australian outfit.

Neither side was able to wrestle control early in hot conditions resulting in a frantically end –to-end start to the match.

Glory found the breakthrough in the 42nd minute when Kerr forced a Roar turnover on the edge of the area before playing in Hill who rifled her effort into the top corner from a tight angle.

Brisbane immediately responded through a Katrina Gorry free kick that Melissa Maizels was only able to tip onto the crossbar before Clare Polkinghorne headed home the rebound to send the sides in level at the break.

The goal came in controversial circumstances as Polkinghorne’s header appeared take a touch off of the offside Roar striker Wai Ki Cheung.

Perth regained the lead early in the second half when johnny-on-the-spot Hill tapped home her second of the game after Mackenzie Arnold was only able to parry Raquel Rodriguez’s intial effort.

Perth extended their lead in the 77th minute when Kerr won a penalty after being brought down in the area by Arnold before emphatically converting the resulting penalty kick.

Just five minutes later Glory grabbed a fourth as Hill completed her hat-trick when she slammed a driven effort from the edge of the area into the bottom corner to seal the result for her side.

The hat-trick takes Hill’s season tally to five, sending her top of W-League goal scorer chart.

The result was marred for Perth who dealt a serious blow when midfielder Nikki Stanton broke her arm in a collision with Roar flanker Allira Toby in the 20th minute.

Roar didn’t get through the match unscathed either as fullback Kaitlyn Torpey was forced off with injury early in the second half.

The win sees Glory move above Newcastle on goal difference to the top of the Westfield W-League ladder while Brisbane Roar drop to 6th.
