What a year so far.

We remain undefeated in 2018 and I think we can keep it that way.

Newcastle Jets haven’t had the best start to the year – they’re still searching for a win and I’m confident we can claim an important win at home.

The three points really matter to both of us and I think we’ll both be going hell-for-leather.

To be honest we’re still trying to get back to Canberra time after the Perth Glory game, it’s a long way there and back but we were happy to get a point over there.

Credit to the resilience of the girls, the game didn’t go to plan but the positivity and the team strength to turn the game around was just incredible.

We felt we were executing the game plan and when we were going forward it really looked like we were going to score but in transition they constantly looked like they were going to score.

When you’ve got two world class forwards in Rachael Hill and Sam Kerr they work so well together they’r probably the best partnership in the league.

Although we were disappointed to concede we were really positive and we felt confident going forward and creating chances of our own.

Tactically if you press them high you leave space in behind but if you defend deep you invite your opponents forward so that was always going to be hard but Kerr demonstrated she can score from any situation.

Ashleigh Sykes really lifted the team alongside her co-captain Michelle Heyman, Ash created our first goal just after the start of the second half and that really helped us to push through and fight back.

To be honest over the course of the game we probably had more territory and possession but Perth had some really good chances to put the game away right at the end too.

It was a really important game for them but for us to stay unbeaten really kept us going.

We’ve got a big week of preparations ahead but we’re looking forward to hosting Newcastle and playing our last league home game.

It’s massive for both teams, last time we faced them it was a highly-charged affair and I think it should be very much the same.

Our destiny is in our own hands and we just need to go out there and get the three points.
