It’s that time of the year again as we take W-League coaches picks ahead of the grand final between Sydney FC and Melbourne City on Sunday.

With the W-League reaching its pinnacle for yet another season the big dance is set to be an exciting affair after two scintillating semi-final clashes last weekend.

To any fence-sitters out there these wise words may determine your pick. See below for the coaches bold predictions…

Jeff Hopkins – Melbourne Victory

“It’s going to be a tight contest because they’re pretty well matched. It might come down to a factor like Caitlin Foord missing the game. Sydney have been more consistent this season but if you at player for player City have the edge.”

Prediction: Melbourne City 1-0 Sydney FC

Ivan Karlovic – Adelaide United

“I think this one will go the distance to penalties. Sydney have been one of the most consistent sides this season and obviously City have got some big game players so it’s hard to separate the two. To pick someone I’ll go City because of the quality up and down the park”

Prediction: Melbourne City 2-2 Sydney FC, Melbourne City on penalties.

Heather Garriock – Canberra United

“I’m going City because of the quality around the park and the depth of the squad. Sydney are in form but losing Foord is going to hurt them.”

Prediction: Melbourne City 3-2 Sydney FC

Bobby Despotovski – Perth Glory

“I picked them about six weeks ago because you could see them building towards this game. They have one of the best strikers in the world and I really can’t see Sydney being able to break them down in this one.”

Prediction: Melbourne City 2-1 Sydney FC

Craig Deans – Newcastle Jets

“Let’s hope it’s 11 v 11 for the whole game for a start. They’re on a good run and haven’t lost in ten games now so I think that momentum will get them through. City can be a bit hot and cold and if they show up it’ll be tough but I’m backing Sydney.”

Prediction: Sydney FC 2-1 Melbourne City

Mel Andreatta – Brisbane Roar

“It’s going to be close but I think Sydney goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe will have a ripper of a match saving two of Melbourne City’s penalties! Lisa De Vanna will slot the final penalty to win it for the Sky Blues.”

Prediction: Melbourne City 2-2 Sydney, Sydney on penalties.
