Feast your eyes on an A-League line-up which features cult hero Matt Simon leading the line.

With the rise of the E-League we decided to look at the most physical A-League players according to FIFA database Futhead.

Eugene Galekovic – Goalkeeper

The A-League veteran tops the list in the keeper’s section. With FIFA somehow rating his physicality above the beast, Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Jamie Young.

Rhyan Grant – Right Back (76 physicality)

The Sydney dynamo has made a habit of terrorising the opposition and has not let his relatively smaller stature prevent him from competing in his on-field battles.

Alan Baro – Centre Back (84 physicality)

The Spanish defender has used his frame to the best of his abilities and has become one of the most accomplished defenders throughout his time in the competition with Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners.

Ersan Gulum – Centre Back (85 physicality)

Recognised as the most physical defender in the A-League, the Adelaide United defender has had his fair share of tussles this campaign. The Turkish international’s physicality saw him puncture a lung against Melbourne Victory earlier this season (however not even that could force him from leaving the pitch).

Leigh Broxham – Left Back (83 physicality)

Like his right-sided counterpart, Broxham has been a battler for the Victory throughout his time in the competition.

Thomas Kristensen – Centre Midfielder (76 physicality)

The great Dane has forged a formidable partnership with Matt McKay in the centre of the park for the Roar. His combative style of play earning him a place in this starting eleven.

Liam Rose – Centre Midfielder (77 physicality)

This one comes as a surprise. The 20-year-old ranks as the second most physical midfielder in the league!

Roly Bonevacia – Centre Midfielder (77 physicality)

The Wanderers midfielder has made a name for himself with his hard-nosed tackling and is not afraid to dish out the tackles.

Alvaro Cejudo – Right Wing (71 physicality)

The Spanish midfielder has endured an injury ravaged season however his limited appearances in the league have provided a glimpse of his potential power and physicality.

Matt Simon – Striker (82 physicality)

A Sky Blues fan favourite. The wizard of Woy Woy is a shoo-in when it comes to naming this starting eleven.

Mitch Austin – Left Wing (72 physicality)

The E-League legend leads the league in this category. Absent with an ACL injury this campaign we have unfortunately not had the opportunity to witness Austin’s brutal physicality on the football pitch.
