Savannah McCaskill has helped Sydney FC claim an important three points against the Newcastle Jets following her killer performance at Jubilee Stadium.

McCaskill stole the show, this time scoring either side of Princess Ibini-Isei’s sliding effort. The American headed home the first goal of the match in the 26th minute after a perfectly weighted long ball from Danielle Colaprico found Caitlin Foord, who crossed it to McCaskill. She finished again at the death of the match from a Lisa De Vanna set up, turning and striking into the bottom corner.

Sydney FC’s head coach Ante Juric couldn’t be happier with the American international, claiming she was the “best player on the park by a mile” throughout Sydney FC’s 3-1 win over the Newcastle Jets.

Juric was pleased with the quality and versatility of McCaskill, who has played on the wing and as a central attacking midfielder so far this season, and was pushed up to centre forward for the Jets match.

“She’s been excellent the last couple of weeks so we decided to put her at nine this week and it worked well for her… she was exceptional, best player on the park by a mile.”

With McCaskill playing centrally, Foord was moved into the wing and did a superb job of getting wide crosses into Sydney’s attacking box. Juric applauded the attacking duo of McCaskill and Foord, saying the Australian and American combined well which worked out tactically for his side.

McCaskill was a fan of the pairing up too.

“We clicked since day one… we move off each other so well, whether it’s me getting in behind and she’s slipping me a ball… we seem to be able to read each other really well and it’s been a lot of fun.”

Sydney are currently sitting in sixth spot on the table with only a handful of games to go. McCaskill’s stellar performance helping her team to secure the three points was vital to keep the Sky Blues in contention for the finals.
