It was a classic tale of two halves, Perth Glory’s second-half run shocking Brisbane Roar to spectacularly finish 4-2 to the visitors.

Perth started as the stronger side for the initial portion of the first half, regular openings in Brisbane’s defence culminating with two chances in quick order for Fabio Ferreira.

The hosts were able to hold firm, momentum swinging their way as Adam Taggart bagged his first of the night, finishing into an empty net with an off his line Liam Reddy colliding heavily with Shane Lowry.

The hosts remained dominant for the half’s remainder, though they continued their season-long display of poor discipline, Jacob Pepper and Matt McKay both collecting yellow cards.

Taggart gave Brisbane an extra lift heading into halftime, doubling their lead after heading home a well-delivered corner from Eric Bautheac in the 40th minute.

Perth started the second half off aggressively, forcing plenty of defensive action out of the hosts.

The match’s entire trajectory was changed in the 57th minute when  Daniel Bowles was judged to have brought Perth’s Joel Chianese down inside the box, Bowles shown a red card by referee Adam Kersey.

Neil Kilkenny made no mistake in converting the spot kick and this triggered nothing short of a complete collapse for Brisbane.

Perth were awarded a second penalty in the 80th minute by VAR after Brendon Santalab’s shot on goal deflected off Aaron Reardon’s arm and Neil Kilkenny again finished from the spot.

This was quickly followed up by an own goal from Reardon, the youngster suffering a horror follow-up after his promising A-League debut last round against Newcastle.

The match was sealed two minutes later by Andy Keogh, Chianese finding the Perth nine to complete Perth’s second-half swing.

Perth jump three points clear to top the table, Brisbane continuing in their struggles this season.
