Andar Bahar – card game rules

-

With the development of IT infrastructure in India, a lot of Indians are transitioning from land-based gaming houses to online casinos.

This has resulted in many traditional Indian games becoming more and more popular on the Internet.

One of these games is Andar Bahar, and today we will tell you everything you need to know about how to play Andar Bahar online.

The History of Andar Bahar

Andar Bahar or Katti is a card game that originated in India, more precisely in Bengaluru. The game was invented during the Harappa Civilization. At the time Andar Bahar was played with pieces of cloth with markings and was known under the name Ullae Veliyae.

It is safe to say that although the rules stayed the same, the game has developed greatly since then thanks to the modernization of props and the environment in which it is played. Today, players can even play Andar Bahar slots online, if you are interested you can try it also via https://parimatch.in/en/slots-andar-bahar

Andar Bahar Setup

Because Andar Bahar is a simple game that does not need many props, it can be played anywhere and anytime. The only thing that is required to start playing is a deck of cards and at least two players.

For Indian players that play online, the online thing they need to do to start playing Andar Bahar is to visit an online platform like Parimatch and they can begin to wager in a matter of seconds.

The Rules of Andar Bahar

Andar Bahar is a card game based purely on luck. The game starts with the dealer (or one of the players) turning one card face up. In Andar Bahar, this card is called the “Joker”. After the “Joker” has been revealed, the first (depending on the format there can be multiple) betting round starts.

In the betting round, players bet on one of the two options: the inside option called Andar or the outside option called Bahar. After the betting has finished, the dealer starts dealing cards from the deck one by one. Each card is put alternatively on one of the two piles.

When the dealer deals a card that matches the “Joker” card to one of the piles, the game ends. The player who bet on the pile on which the matching card landed is the winner and he collects his winnings.

The “Joker” also determines on which side the first card will be dealt after the betting round has finished. If the “Joker” card is black, the dealer will deal the first card on the Andar side and if the “Joker” card is red, he will deal the first card on the Bahar side.

Example of an Andar Bahar Betting Round

To explain one betting round of Andar Bahar, let’s use an example.

The game starts, and the dealer deals the “Joker” or the game card. In this case, the “Joker” card is nine of diamonds. After the game card is dealt, the player or players start betting. In this case, the player bets on the Bahar side. After the betting round ends, the dealer starts dealing cards from the deck. Because the “Joker” card is red, the first card is dealt on the Bahar side.

After the several cards have been dealt, the dealer pulls out the nine of spades and places it on the Bahar side. This marks the end of the round and the player can collect his winnings since he placed his bet on the correct side.

Andar Bahar Payouts and Strategy

As you might have noticed, the side on which the first card is dealt has a slightly greater chance of receiving a card that matches the “Joker.” In accordance with this, the payouts are adjusted to reflect the odds as best as possible.

The odds for the side on which the first card is dealt are usually 1.90 while the odds on the side which receives the second card are 2.00. This means that the odds for the betting round are determined after the “Joker” card is dealt since the colour of this card determines where the first card will be dealt after the betting round.

This means that if you place a bet of ₹1000 on Bahar and the first card is dealt on the Bahar side your potential payout will be ₹1900. On the other hand, if the first card is dealt on the Bahar side and you place a bet on the Andar side your potential payout will be ₹2000.

The odds might be slightly different for both sides, but since Andar Bahar is a game based completely on luck there is no viable strategy that you can implement that will guarantee you profit in the long run.

Conclusion

Andar Bahar is a simple yet very fun game that can be played both in traditional casinos and online. Most online casinos give their players the opportunity to play Andar Bahar with live dealers making the online experience closer to the real casino atmosphere.
