AEK’s point of view

-

After the first match concluded, the presence of Dusan Bajevic was felt in a post-match chat with media. The AEK Athens manager himself had 40 caps for the Yugoslavia national team before moving into coaching in the early 80’s.
Since hanging up his boots he has had a stellar coaching career, featuring a pair of stints with both Olympiacos and AEK, along with the Yugoslavian Olympic team. Bajevic joined a bevy of Australian and international media after the game at the SFS and spoke calmly through an interpreter.

“[I am] very satisfied because we played very well – a very good game with a good opponent. We had a diffecult and a very strong training camp in Austria and during this first game we succeeded at what we would like to do.”

“We will not stay at this game [level], we will be more serious, because we made faults. We had a very good score, 5-3, but we had faults we should avoid.”

“I believe that my match will be more effective. The field was difficult, I was afraid for injury, but it was ok”.

When questioned about the future of Nathan Burns, and his role at the club this year, Bajevic was reluctant to give anything away.

“I wish to tell you now but it is not possible to answer to you because we have two games here and then we will play [elsewhere]”

“It depends on Nathan Burns, we will see.”
