For the third time in 6 weeks the Central Coast Mariners look to knock the wind out of a Victorian outfit, facing up against the Melbourne Heart tonight. After beating them 1-nil in the opening round, and downing the Victory last week 2-nil, the Mariners will be looking to both keep a clean sheet and win the game to keep this season’s form against Melbourne opponents.
Three former Mariners will line-up for Heart against the Central Coast, injuries permitting – Michael Beauchamp, Dean Heffernan, and John Aloisi. The Heart also bring with them the Mariners former media manager, Benny Coonan, and the closeness of the relationship between the sides is not overlooked by CCM vice-captain John Hutchinson.
“I’ve messaged Heff (Dean Heffernan) and he’s looking forward to getting up here, getting a game against us and trying to reverse the 1-nil win we had there.
“They’re all good people that are coming, I’m not sure if Meggsi (Michael Beauchamp) is coming but we look forward to playing against them.”
Betfair.com.au has the CCM at $2.24 to win the match, while Heart are longshots at $3.80. The draw might be the best option at $3.35
Get yourself along to Bluetongue Stadium, Gosford tonight. Kick-off is at 8pm and tickets are available at www.ticketek.com.au, by phoning 132 849, or at the gate.
