Becks to get shirt off for charity

For all those women (and men) who have been dying to get David Beckham’s shirt off, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is after the Newcastle Jets’ announced Beckham and a host of other players competing in Saturday’s Qantas Challenge will put their match jerseys up for auction, with all proceeds going to charity.

Along with Beckham, the likes of Landon Donovan, Edson Buddle, Tarek Elrich and Ben Kantarovski will also put their match jerseys to public bid in what has been described by the club as a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The jerseys will be auctioned on Ebay with the bidding opening today, Thursday 25th November, at 12pm (AEDT) and will close Tuesday 30th November 12pm (AEDT), all proceeds are to be donated to the Jets’ charity partner, Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI).

Director of the Hunter Medical Research Institute, Professor Maree Gleeson, spoke to the media about the Jets’ commitment to kicking community goals off the park.

“Today’s announcement truly confirms the Newcastle Jets’ dedication and commitment to improving our community. The club and its management team are an asset to the Hunter.

“Every cent raised from the auction will be invested directly into medical research leading to improved health of people not only here in the Hunter but around the world”.

For those intending to bid, all Ebay jersey listings will be featured on the Newcastle Jets’ website from 12pm Thursday.
