The Football Sack is holding its inaugural ‘Movember Challenge’ this month to support the Movember Australia Foundation in their quest to raise awareness and much needed funds for men’s health. Competing TFS writers will give up their shabby, average looks for a month and transform into handsome gentlemen with moustaches to match.
Pictures of our competitor’s moustaches will be uploaded and a poll will be held on the website from the 20th November. It is up to you, our readers and loving football community, to vote which moustache will reign supreme. A prize pool of money will be given to the winner to donate to the Movember Australia Foundation under their name.
Football has the power to unite people of all walks by transcending a love for the game and transforming that same passion into a unified community willing to give to a greater cause, like Movember. Help the TFS team score the goals this month by donating to our competing moustaches by clicking on their individual links provided below and checking back on 20th November to vote. Together we can show Australia that we are the beautiful game as we kick towards a brighter future for men’s health.
Meet the ‘Men behind the Moustaches’
Neil Sherwin
Donation goal?
With no set target in mind, Neil is quite content to spam the hell out of everyone in order to raise as many funds as possible.
Inspiration for partaking in Movember?
Originally a no mo-er, the growing potential of Neil’s mo’ was too great for his work colleagues to pass up. It took some bullying to convince Neil to leave the dark side and join the Gentlemen’s club, though he now admits he’s proud to be doing his bit and is unsure how he ever lived without a mo’.
Mo-tivational mo models?
Citing the likes of Tom Sellick, Burt Reynolds, Ned Flanders and Freddie Mercury as favourite men behind the mo’, Neil takes most heart from the long standing Scouse tradition of the mo’ established by Rush, Souness, Aldridge and Lawrenson. Though such hairy heights appear to have left the realm of football, Neil has been impressed with Joey Barton’s attempts to bring back the lip-tickler.
Michal Roucek
Donation Goal?
$500
Inspiration for partaking in Movember?
Apart from changing the face of men’s health, Michal has a personal goal to achieve absolute “moustache supremacy” in order to boost his man points. Nice one Michal, though you sure you didn’t grab that one from a Starwars script?
Mo-tivational mo models?
For Michal, there is no need to look further than the lip-tickler sported by Australian cricketing hero, Dennis Lillee. As If a ridiculously open shirt and gold chain buried amongst a famous bed of chest hair wasn’t enough, the glistening of Lillee’s sweaty golden ‘tache really put the icing on the cake for our TFS competitor.
Chris Hills

Mo-tivational mo models?
If a moustache is to be the measure of a man, then the mo’ harvested by German wunder-brain, Friedrich Nietzsche ranks highest in my book for ‘man of the millennia’. It is hard to believe the 19th-Century German philosopher was a solemn Nihilist when his mo’ had a wider girth than a sweater-clad Amanda Vanstone. Such lady-enticing hair follicles are enviable.

“Can’t go past our own Chris Hills, that kid has style”. Well, Christian, perhaps the less said about that one the better.
Remember to stay tuned for uploaded moustache pictures from the men on the 20th November and watch out for any late wild card entries.
