Semester Summary
Sydney began their Hyundai A-League title defence in a confident mood but blew an excellent start to the Grand Final rematch with Melbourne Victory by letting slip a 2 goal advantage to salvage a 3-all draw thanks to a late Shannon Cole free kick.
Sydney however did not win a match until Round 11 away at Perth after hitting rock bottom against Victory at Etihad Stadium the round previous losing 3-0.
Sydney then brought the away form home to Moore Park Road in their next match earning a point from visiting table toppers Brisbane Roar with a one all scoreline.
Sydney lie two points adrift of the 2010/2011 Finals Series and remain up-beat on making the cut in order to bring good form into the ACL Champions League.
Areas of Excellence
Sydney’s start to the season was the worst in the history of the Hyundai A-League.
Replacement for John Aloisi, Bruno Cazarine is the club’s top scorer this season with 6 goals from 10 caps. The contributions from Hirofumi Moriyasu and Ivan Necevski have been pleasing.
Losing the spine of the side was never going to be easy but the lack of contribution from some of the replacements for the spine of the team has been a worry. In particular Mark Bridge and Scott Jamieson have been off the pace all-season, whilst Liam Reddy has a lot of work to do in order to be first choice keeper again.

Outlook
Having moved on from the start from hell, Sydney fans are saying that the Sky Blues can still make the top 6 with some good showings in the second half of the season.
