Adelaide United coach John Kosmina’s undefeated streak has continued after a 1-1 draw with Brisbane Roar at Hindmarsh Stadium overnight.
Since being handed a second chance to lead his hometown team Kosmina has United unbeaten in four games, all against teams ranked higher than the seventh placed Reds.
Friday night’s stalemate with the Roar saw Kosmina’s charges fight their way back from a goal down to earn a point in front of more than 11,000.
Kosmina said he was happy with his team’s performance and is looking to build on the result ahead of a grudge match with the Victory next Friday.
You’ve got to be (happy with the result). They (Brisbane Roar) are the best side in the country based on their championship last season, their 36 games undefeated, they move the ball around well and they’re a difficult side to play against, and our guys pretty much matched them,” Kosmina said.
“We were smart, we showed some ticker when we needed to, we came from behind which was fantastic and we made some terrific opportunities, so it gives us plenty to work with.”
Goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic felt that both sides had chances to take all three points but said neither should be disappointed by the outcome.
“In the end it’s probably a fair result, they had a lot of possession and we probably had a couple more chances,” Galekovic said.
Both teams will now face season-defining matches with United taking on rivals Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Friday while the Roar will host Sydney FC Saturday night.
