Shinji hacked at the shins of Hoffman with a fly kick reminiscent of feudal Japan but it would be Mark Bridge who crouched like a tiger over the ball to find the back of the net first at Parramatta. Red was a popular choice.
Western Sydney fans witnessed their first home goal at Parramatta Stadium with Bridge bagging his second of the season. He’s still the only Wanderers man to score, Servet Uzunlar and Jenna Kingsley the two female goalscorers in the Westfield W-League. Oh, unless you count Gerhardt, who put one past his own ‘keeper to give WSW a two goal lead.
Josip Tadic clawed one back with a beautiful first time volley across Covic and into the corner of the net, making it 2-1 after 56 minutes.
2-1 the score remained in the Red Stripe Stoush in favour of the Western Sydney. Melbourne, your body is a Wanderland. Well, mainly your heart.
