Firstly, I’d like to start by apologising to our fans and the City of Newcastle. We as a team who represent you and have the honour of wearing the JETS logo feel as if we have let you all down with our poor display and performance on the weekend.
Our last two home games have been an absolute disaster and in no league anywhere in the world is conceding 11 goals in two games at home acceptable. We as a group are hurting from our humiliating defeat at the hands of a hungry and determined Glory team and know we must bounce back from this with nothing more than a solid display of the football we know we can play this weekend against Adelaide.
We need to focus our attention on not conceding goals and that comes down to concentration and desperation. We spoke all week about being desperate in and around the 18 yard box when defending and although the signs were good at training we didn’t show up with that same attitude on game day which is the most disappointing part. We were poor in all areas of the game against Perth and we all know that we are much better than what we produced.
It’s hard to keep the confidence high and the belief up when you come off of a thumping of 6-1 but that what we have to do and at the end of the day it’s all about having the right a mind set.
All good teams have had bad days (Central Coast Mariners v Sydney FC 7-2, Manchester United v Arsenal 8-2) we just have to look ahead to Adelaide this week and redirect our season. All is not lost for us and we are still very determined to make the Semi-Finals which is still very achievable from here.
It’s time to turn the tide and amazing things can come from a team’s first win; let’s get the ball rolling!!
