It must be said the score line flatters the visiting side.
After dominating much of the first half, Victory took the lead after twenty three minutes through Rojas. A great through ball by Flores found Archie Thompson in the penalty box who unselfishly squared off the ball to Rojas who was on hand for the easy tap in.
Seven minutes before the break the home side doubled its advantage as Finkler and Flores played a great one two before Flores found the back of the net with the outside of his foot.
Immediately after half-time Melbourne scored a third, a copy of the first goal as Thompson used his speed and awareness to find Rojas who for the second time on the night who had the simple task of tapping into an open goal.
Wellington however managed to scare the hosts through Jeremy Brockie, who found the back of the net with two magnificent strikes. The first a contender for goal of the year whilst the second was a well taken free-kick.
Along with the three points Victory are off the bottom of the table, replacing them….. city rivals Melbourne Heart.
