A lone goal to Brazilian import Henrique has handed Brisbane Roar a 1-0 victory against the Reds in their Boxing Day clash at Hindmarsh Stadium.
Henrique broke the hearts of the Adelaide faithful and sent them home with coal in their stockings, while Roar coach Mike Mulvey got all he wanted for Christmas with his first victory in charge of the Queensland side.
While 27-year-old Henrique put the ball past Galekovic in the 66th minute, Mitch Nichols played the role of the Grinch as he stole Kosmina’s Christmas, laying on the assist in a stunning solo effort.
Both sides were low on confidence heading into the match as the Reds were battered 6-1 against the Wanderers, while Brisbane fell at home to Perth in Mulvey’s first match in charge of the Roar.
The win temporarily moves Brisbane into seventh place on the Hyudai A-League ladder while consigning Adelaide to their first back-to-back loss of the season.
