A brace to Dario Vidosic provided Sydney FC with the only fireworks they’ll see on New Years as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Hindmarsh Stadium.

While the Harbour Bridge is set to light up the midnight sky, Sydney saw their season go up in smoke before their very eyes as they provided no response in the absence of marquee man Alessandro Del Piero.
The Italian’s presence was sorely missed by the Blues as Adelaide’s number 10 did all the damage, securing his brace before the half-hour mark of the first half. A looping header in the 18th minute was matched with a well-placed penalty in the 29th minute after Seb Ryall was adjudged to have brought down Bruce Djite.
Winger Iain Ramsay sealed the points in the 61st minute as Janjetovic spilled a Djite strike from out wide, allowing the 24-year-old to swoop and add his name to the scoresheet.
The win has the Reds holding on to second spot heading into 2013 while Sydney remain stuck at the foot of the ladder in ninth place, just one point ahead of the Melbourne Heart.
