The best thing about the Women’s World Cup so far has been being able to go to my local coffee shop, discuss the game and people actually knowing what I am going on about.

The support for the Matilda’s so far has been fantastic and it is so great to engage in conversation about women’s football and the Matildas – this is something that I could normally never do.

When high profiles like Tim Cahill are going to efforts to promote our game it brings a new audience to the women’s side of football.

To have household names spreading the word means the general population also catch the hype.

We really need to ride the wave of the World Cup this year and start encouraging people to bring their family, friends and children to W-League games as this is where our squad comes from.

This is the perfect way to expose them to women’s football at a local level and watch these stars at home as the girls are the perfect role models for younger generations.

We must reel in the great support for women’s football we’re currently experiencing and ensure that the people who are engaging in discussion and watching the games continue supporting women’s football in this country.

My first cap for the Matildas was a very special night, made even more memorable by scoring on debut yet it joys me just as much to see our journey and progression from that point to now. We’re in a position where I genuinely believe we can beat Brazil in the World Cup Round of 16 match this morning.
