A round full of action, a week full of thrills
A plethora of drama and a couple of spills
Round Seven saw football that was memorable and tough
Surrounded by games that were forgettable; rough
The Perth Sydney match looked a cracker pre game
But both teams failed to light up their flame
Chances were rare as both went the retreat
Some blamed the tactics, most blamed the heat
Perth sweltered through a hot summer’s day
Leaving Arnold fuming about the scheduling of play
None the less Sydney remain in the four
Keeping up with pace setters Victory and Roar
Perth on the contrary have now slipped quite low
Given expectations this was a very a big blow
Their one win has come at home to Adelaide
A team so poor at present, even rhymes don’t fit
But enough of the negative, there was good stuff I say
The Pheonix and Wanderers produced a dazzling display
It was tense and mostly level all through the night
Before Bridge unleashed mayhem near the end of the fight
The crowd reacted strongly with a thunderous roar
His goal meant their winning streak extended to four
Victory were impressive early in their clash on Thursday night
Before having to withstand a mini Mariners fight
Finkler was devine with two goals in the first half
His second a screamer, a scorcher, a laugh
The ball curved majestically round the six man wall
Many assumed this goal would trigger a Mariners downfall
But the men in yellow fought and persisted till the end
Their determination proof this team can still ascend
Seven rounds are now complete but the journey has just begun
Will the title go to Melbourne, Sydney; Perhaps anyone?
Even strugglers Adelaide can overcome their position
Although it will take hard work and a possible transition
So as I say goodbye today and conclude until next time
Here’s my final message, I guess my final rhyme
Support the football passionately but avoid being conniving
And even if you do support too hard, it won’t be as bad as drink driving
