11 easy ways to improve your football experience in 2016

-

There is still half a season to go in the Hyundai A-League, which is plenty of time to enhance your game day experience.

Here are eleven improvements you can make to your trip to the football stadium, ready for the new year.

1. Start up a conversation about team tactics with a stranger sitting next to you.

2. On the sidelines dare your friends to yell loudly and inappropriately at the opposition.

3. Give players in your team silly nicknames and catch-cries such as “Ryall ’em up Sebastian!” or “Burn ’em down, Nathan!”

4. When watching your team play Wellington Phoenix, commentate the game in New Zealand accents. “Muscat! Manny Muscat has it!”

5. Choose a player in your team to dislike for no particular reason and tell everyone who’ll listen how you don’t think they could even score drugs at Stereosonic.

6. Spend one game sitting in the family section of the stadium, with your family.

7. Eat a halftime hotdog with the works and make it a ritual.

8. Have multiple scarfs so you can always kit out your fairweather friend.

9. Design a new club logo and present it to your club, just in case they’re looking to do a rebrand. Ideally it looks like an existing car manufacturer’s logo, or an English Premier League club emblem.

10. Pregame at the active supporter’s pub and march to the stadium.

11. Read every article about your club on The Football Sack so you’re informed and lightly entertained.
