Episode X: Return of the Dugout

-

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

embed.phpThe force is strong with these two:

  • Melbourne City: Melbourne City have managed 14 goals in three games and I think we can all agree that’s a phenomenal achievement.
  • Western Sydney Wanderers: The streak continues as Wanderers use the force to take a convincing lead on the ladder this week.

The chosen one:

Aaron Mooy is leading the league in everything from assists, chances created to crosses. His scoring ability is proving his worth to City.

Movement in the galaxy:

The force has awoken for Wanderers who have cemented their top spot, taking a four point lead over Brisbane. Melbourne City have struck back recently to hold third, ahead of derby rivals Melbourne Victory. Sydney FC have slid down to fifth while Phoenix and Jets sit at sixth and seventh respectively. Perth Glory are climbing their way up and bridging the ladder gap whilst only two points behind Newcastle and Adelaide United are slithering close behind. Mariners are moving closer to the dark side in tenth place with only five points.

Interesting fact, this is.

Milos Trifunovic has had a massive 18 offside calls made against him while Aaron Mooy has had only one. Impress Jedi Master Miller, this will not.

I sense this will be the game to watch

The Melbourne Derby, of course. Will it be Revenge of Melbourne City as they continue their run of fine form or will Victory silence them for the second time this season?

Jedi in the making

Nick Cowburn seems to have searched his feelings and found form from the bench this season and has been making an impact with energy and determination for the Newcastle Jets. I’d be keeping my eyes on this young Jedi.

Great expectations for the weekend:

Episode I: Newcastle Jets v Adelaide United:

The Newcastle Jets are looking to redeem themselves after a bad run while Adelaide are finally putting their Jedi powers to good use. Will someone triumph or will it be a clone of their last match-up?

Episode II: Wellington Phoenix v Sydney FC:

Sydney FC travel to a galaxy far, far away to take on Phoenix in Attack of the Sky Blues. Will Dark Lord Arnold be able to keep his opinions to himself this round?

Episode III: Perth Glory v Western Sydney Wanderers: With a defeat of Galactic Emperors Melbourne Victory, Glory are on a massive high, but will it be enough to defeat the strongest troopers in the league?

Episode IV: Central Coast Mariners v Brisbane Roar:

Could Mariners fall further to the Dark Side or will they unleash their force against Roar? Armed with some of the most talented droids in the galaxy, Brisbane won’t go down without a fight.
