Bosnich vs The Football Sack: Round 15

-

Fergie vs Wenger? Alright. Pep vs Jose? Nothing special. Mark Bosnich vs The Football Sack? It doesn’t get any bigger than that.

We are all set to go into battle, pitting our Hyundai A-League team of the week against Bozza’s Marvelous Men in our Football Manager 2016 simulator series.

Bozza is set in his ways, continuing in an adventurous 433, while The Football Sack lines up with a more compact five man midfield. Here are the two teams:

This week’s game would certainly be one to forget for Mr. Bosnich.

His side struggled to hold onto the ball, were limp on the counter attack and fragile at the back. Not the best of combinations.

On the other hand The Football Sack’s attacking players, while not blessed with a lot of pace or trickery, gelled brilliantly to slice their opponents apart time after time.

The first goal would come after just 15 minutes of play courtesy of Fahid Ben Khalfallah.

After a beautiful bit of link up in which David Carney, Aaron Mooy and Jimmy Jeggo each got a touch, Khalfallah was played in and smoothly slotted it past the goalkeeper.

Just on the edge of half time The Football Sack were up by two.

The ball was prodded patiently around their opposition’s box again before Jeggo took charge.

The midfielder launched forward, drew in two defenders and rolled it back behind him to the open Mooy.

His curling effort was too good for Daniel Margush to parry.

Just three minutes after the break their lead was extended further as Mooy drove home an unstoppable free kick to all but kill the game.

Bozza’s half time speech hadn’t had much of an effect on his troops as they carried their dismal performance with them into the second term.

The Football Sack still had time to grab another goal before it was all said and done.

In the midst of a rare attacking opportunity with ten minutes to play, Gui Finkler was dispossessed strongly by Erik Paartalu who then launched the ball up field.

Chris Harold was able to get on the end of the pass and finish smartly after rounding the helpless Margush.

Not so for Bosnich to celebrate this week, he left the pitch with his head in his hands and wouldn’t muster a cackle for at least another week.

Back to the drawing board for him then as The Football Sack take home the win with a convincing 4-0 scoreline.
