Melbourne City coach Joe Montemurro says captain Jess Fishlock should be fit to play in the Westfield W-League Grand Final.
A thrilling Semi Final was cut short for Fishlock after injuring her left hamstring at the half hour mark in the second half.
Early signs indicated it was serious, with Lisa De Vanna substituted on for her.
However the City boss said he was just erring on the side of caution with the change.
“Jess is fine, we probably took a little bit of a risk taking her off, she was 50-50 and we didn’t want to risk it in case it got worse,” Montemurro said.
“Perhaps it was confident of us, we felt it was probably the smartest move to give her the opportunity to recover and recoup if we did get through.
“We think she will be available (for the Grand Final).
”
De Vanna made the most of her opportunity coming on the field, dominating the game and had the best chances to convert. The City boss said she is an inspiration for female athletes.
“Lisa was fantastic, we love Lisa.
She’s fantastic for the club and fantastic for women’s football in general,” he said.
“I think the performance shows why she’s so dynamic and I’m so happy for her.”
