Local businesses provide pathway for young writers

-

Two Far North Coast businesses have joined forces to create a program that allows talented young people to pursue their dream careers.

Banking on Football has re-signed as the major sponsor of The Football Sack and become the inaugural sponsor of The Football Sack’s Internship Program.

In operation since 2010, the program offers the nation’s top journalism students the perfect stepping stone into the hard-to-break-into sports media industry.

Since formation, The Football Sack Internship Program has seen 31 of its interns ‘graduate’ into full time roles in the sports, media and marketing industries. With the backing of Banking on Football, the program will now be able to increase that number.

Banking on Football and The Football Sack will work together to ensure talented young Australians will continue to forge careers in media, television, radio and more.

Having previously been the major sponsors of The Football Sack Podcast – including the national award-winning 2014 World Cup Podcast – the internship program is a continuation of Banking on Football’s support for a popular local brand.

The Football Sack co-founder Christian Layland said journalism students across the country will benefit from the partnership.

“Being able to expand and grow the internship program has been our number one priority for a period of time and we are excited that we now have the means to provide an even better service to help talented young Australians succeed in one of the nation’s toughest industries,” said Layland.

Banking on Football and The Football Sack has shared similar values since the beginning of our partnership in 2011 and the sponsorship of the internship program will further strengthen our relationship.

“We are fiercely proud of our Far North Coast roots, we have a passion for developing promising young talent and we love football: we share each of these values with Banking on Football so we are delighted that we are able to continuing working together to make a difference.”
