Timmy’s Tips for Round 15 of the A-League

-

Timmy’s Tips has been on hiatus for the last few weeks as Timmy himself reevaluated his tipping formula.

But fresh from the Christmas and New Year break, Timmy is now back and determined to pick a winner.

Adelaide Utd vs Central Coast Mariners (Coopers Stadium)

Adelaide United’s revival has been spectacular and soothing to witness. The team has returned to producing high quality, attacking football while tightening up defensively. They face a devastated Mariners side who squandered a golden opportunity to defeat Melbourne last week. Leading 3-0 at the half, the Mariners chocked and allowed the Victory to score three of their own. Adelaide’s confidence and belief is so high right now, supporters are expecting Saturday’s encounter to be a walk in the park. With the current positions of the two clubs it’s hard to argue with that.
Prediction: 4-0

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney FC (Parramatta Stadium)

Despite the loss last week, Tony Popovic won’t be too dispirited and will back his boys to return to winning ways in the derby. The Wanderers may not occupy top at present but remain the most threatening side to Brisbane. Without being spectacular Sydney were good and comfortably took care of Newcastle. The Derby always throws up surprises whether it’s goals or red cards, fights or furious counters. Western Sydney will triumph but how the game unfolds we’ll have to wait and see.
Prediction: 2-1

Perth Glory vs Melbourne City (NIB Stadium)

This is a big game for both clubs in the context of their season. A victory for City would catapult them right near the summit of the table while a Perth win would draw them closer to the six. Given the stakes and some of the recent clashes at NIB Stadium; fans can expect goals.
Prediction: 2-3

Newcastle Jets vs Wellington Phoenix (Hunter Stadium)

Certainly the least anticipated clash of the round between two clubs struggling for form at present. Despite not scoring last week, the Phoenix did hold Brisbane perhaps increasing their belief ahead of this game. Newcastle needs a spark to reinvigorate themselves. They seem to have forgotten what made them so attractive at seasons beginning.
Prediction: 0-0
