A-League’s Top 4 Dynamic Duos

-

There’s something both enticing and rewarding about seeing your favourite player-pair power through an opposing side and find the net.

Whether it’s lining up the perfect goal, drawing out a defender or working the whole field to flick the scoring cross over to a teammate; it’s the type of football fans love to see.

This week we take a look at the A-League’s top 4 ‘Dynamic Duos,’ pulling points in pairs each week.

  1. Besart and Rojas

Look no further than Melbourne Victory’s 6-1 thrashing over Perth Glory in Round 4 to see the havoc Besart Berisha and Marco Rojas can reap when they take the field together. Both players scored doubles either side of half-time followed by a combined effort in the 82nd minute to secure Berisha’s hat trick. Both Berisha and Rojas are also equal contenders for this year’s Golden Boot alongside Bruno Fornaroli and Jamie Maclaren.

  1. Fornaroli and Cahill

It goes without saying that any team boasting the combined talent of record breaking Bruno Fornaroli and Socceroos’ legend Tim Cahill have got their sights set on the title. While the pair haven’t yet managed to bring Melbourne City to the top of the table, they’re effectiveness as an attacking tandem is still abundantly clear. One blatant example was City’s early demolition of Western Sydney Wanderers in the FFA Cup.

  1. Maclaren and Oar

Just ten minutes into the Round 5 clash between Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar, Tommy Oar set star striker Jamie Maclaren up for his second goal of the season during their 300th A-League match. While Oar hasn’t tallied as many goals as Maclaren so far, his efforts in getting to the net and overall shots are on par. If Oar manages to improve his shots on target the pair will be a force to be reckoned with.

  1. Ninkovic and Bobo

Sky Blue midfielder Milos Ninkovic and $1 million marquee striker Bobo have been a powerful force this season, racking up seven goals between them in six games. It was Bobo’s goal scoring record, accruing almost 100 goals in 222 games, that attracted Sydney FC to the talented Brazilian and the talisman has already managed to prove his formidable strength. Meanwhile, Ninkovic has been named as one of the most outstanding players so far this season helping Sydney claim a record start to their campaign, chasing their seventh victory in a row.

With or without their 17 goal lead on the ladder, Sydney are up for a tough match against Brisbane Roar this Saturday who’ve made a strong turnaround in their last five games.
