The seven worst haircuts the A-League’s ever seen

-

The A-League has played host to some pretty horrible haircuts in its time.

Find out the worst seven below.

7 – Besart Berisha

As a proud Brisbane-ite, having to include Besart Berisha on this list physically pains me.

While having frosted tips was a (vaguely) acceptable fashion trend back in the 2000’s, it was comfortably out of vogue by the time Berisha found his way to the Roar.

The addition of a baby mohawk is just too heinous a combination to ignore, comfortably cementing Berisha’s place on this list.

For your troubles – enjoy this bonus photo of a younger Berisha playing for Danish side AC Horsen.

No thanks.

6 – Rhyan Grant

The current torch-bearer for crap A-League haircuts, there’s been a miniature media-storm surrounding Rhyan Grant’s locks the past six months.

Dubious stories of AFC approval aside, I don’t see what the fuss is about personally – the mullet has always been a staple of Australian culture.

More power to Grant though – it’s a look I’m 100% behind.

While it’s a pretty eye-grabbing hair-do, people’s memories are far too short if they think it’s the worst the A-League has seen.

5 – Jerrad Tyson

What is it with A-League footballers and bleach-blonde Mohawks?

Journeyman goalkeeper Jerrad Tyson – currently playing for the NPL Victoria’s Green Gully – sported this fetching look when he was playing for Gold Coast United around 2011.

I’m starting to question my memory now, but surely the whole frosted tips/ bleached Mohawk thing was officially done by the early 2010s?

Am I out of touch?

No, it’s the children (or Jerrad Tyson, in this case) who are wrong.

4 – Leigh Broxham

I was honestly surprised when I came across this photo of Leigh Broxham.

The Broxham I know – sporting a utilitarian short-back-and-sides – looks like a pretty nice guy.

This Broxham looks like he’d trolley-pole me outside of Broadmeadow Woolies for refusing to give him a durry.

I can only conclude he was half-way through getting his hair cut before having to rush off, realising he was late for that night’s match.

3 – Luke Brattan

We’re starting to get to the meat of this list now.

Luke Brattan has sported a variety of interesting hairstyles in his time as a footballer.

His cornrows are truly in their own class of awful, however.

The only good thing I can say about this haircut is that Brattan, eventually having it shaved, raised over $20 000 for cancer research as part of the World’s Greatest Shave in 2017.

2 – Fernando Brandan

Fernando Brandan is probably my least-favourite player to every grace the A-League.

He could be forgiven for some of his ridiculous on-field antics (actually no, he can’t), but that haircut is simply indefensible.

I’m of the opinion A-League fans should all be personally recompensed, by City Group, for being subjected to Brandan – and his hair – for an excruciating year and a half.

But wait, there’s worse to come…

1 – Jeremy Brockie

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEY BURN!!!!!!! THEY BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have absolutely no words.
