The Top 5 A-League Players

-

The popularity of the A-League is continuing to grow. Melbourne-based club Western United will take part in the competition for the first time this season as the FFA ramps up its expansion plans.

This has resulted in an influx of high-calibre overseas players, which is great news for Australian soccer fans.

Most authorised Australian betting sites agree that Sydney FC and Perth Glory are the front runners. However, do teams like Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory, and Western Sydney Wanderers have the quality to compete? Today, we’ll find out by analysing the A-League’s best players. We have plenty to discuss, so let’s jump straight in.

Bruno Fornaroli

The Uruguayan forward is one of the most potent finishers in the A-League. Fornaroli joined Perth Glory from Melbourne City in 2019. The 32-year-old picked up a host of major accolades while playing for City, including the FFA Cup and A-League Golden Boot. What’s more, he is the quickest player to reach 30 goals in A-League history.

Diego Castro

Perth Glory are spoilt for choice when it comes to top-class forwards. Diego Castro has played a pivotal role in the side since signing from Getafe in 2015. The Spaniard has netted 42 times for Glory. On top of that, he led his team to the A-League premiership in 2019. Castro also won the Johnny Warren Medal in 2016.

Milos Ninkovic

Milos Ninkovic played for several prestigious European teams, including Dynamo Kyiv and Red Star Belgrade before joining Sydney FC in 2015. The Serbian has been an integral part of the Sky Blues dressing room over the years. Furthermore, he has won a host of major honours while playing in Australia including, the A-League Championship, FFA Cup, and Joe Marston Medal.

Ola Toivonen

Swedish star Ola Toivonen is one of the most talented forwards in the A-League. The 33-year-old netted 15 times for Melbourne Victory during his debut season. What’s more, we are expecting him to build on those figures this time around. Can he lead Victory to the title this season? We wouldn’t rule it out.

Adam le Fondre

32-year-old English striker Adam le Fondre has played for several prestigious clubs including, Cardiff City, Reading, and Bolton Wanderers. However, he now plays for Sydney FC. Adam le Fondre guided the Sky Blues to the A-League Grand Final last season after a series of impressive performances. Can he do it again? We think so. He’s one of the best finishers in the A-League right now.
