It was suppose to be an easy three points for Macarthur FC, however, Newcastle Jets had other ideas when they held the Bulls 2-2 at Campbelltown Stadium.
An early chance for the jets came in the 5th minute inside the penalty box, but it was saved by Adam Federici.
Liam Rose was given the first yellow card of the game after a foul on Ramy Najjarine just six minutes into the first half.
Lachlan Rose had an ambitious effort from long range which was comfortably saved by Lewis Italiano in the 11th minute.
However, Rose had a closer opportunity hitting a volley from close range, but it was well saved by Italiano in the 19th minute.
Matt Derbyshire had the chance to score when the ball landed in front of him, but it did not trouble the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute.
Newcastle took the lead in the 27th minute through Roy O’Donovan. A controversial penalty was awarded after a Mark Milligan challenge on Kuach Yuel to make it 1-0.
Macarthur continued to press forward and create a number of chances, but had trouble trying finding the back of the net.
Loic Puyo decided to have a threating long-range shoot in the 34th minute only for it to go just wide.
The Bulls found the equaliser in the 36th minute after Derbyshire found the through ball to Charles M’Mombwa, which he finished.
Macarthur were able to take the lead on the stroke of half-time after Puyo slotted it home from close range to make it 2-1.
The Jets found the 2-2 equaliser in the 57th minute after a strike by Steven Ugarkovic from outside the 18 yard-box gave Federici no chance.
Rose created a chance down the wing in the 68th minute, but his shot went wide.
Tommy Oar looked to break the deadlock from outside the box, but could not find the target in the 80th minute.
A crucial save by Federici denied the Jets from taking the lead in the 83rd minute.
The Bulls have dropped points in their last three matches but have another home game next week against Melbourne City.
