Bull’s poor performance costs them three points

-

Macarthur FC have performed poorly in their 2-0 defeat to a threatening Brisbane Roar side at Campbelltown Stadium.

It did not take long for Brisbane to find the back of the net. Dylan Wenzel-Halls took a shot low and hard at the keeper’s near post inside the 12th minute to make it 1-0.

The Bulls pushed hard for the equaliser, and Benat Etxebarria’s cross to Matt Derbyshire saw the ball go wide in the 17th minute.

Macarthur had a closer chance a few minutes later when Liam Rose’s cross found Jake Hollman unmarked in the box which lead to a complete miss of the target.

A full stretched Federici prevented another low, driving shot from Wenzel-Halls to give the Roar only a corner in the 29th minute.

In the 32nd minute the Bulls had another missed chance, with Matt Derbyshire heading wide after a corner kick from Puyo.

A golden opportunity then fell for Wenzel-Halls to increase the lead for Roar when he found himself one-on-one with Federici, but his shot went high and wide after he attempted to lob the keeper.

The Bulls had a good chance to level the scoring when Derbyshire had a clear shot on goal which again went wide from the target in the 38th minute.

And even a rocket of a shot by Mark Milligan in the 57th minute from just outside the box was tipped over the bar by Jamie Young.

A minute later the Roar ultimately found their second of the night when Riku Danzaki scored from inside the six-yard box after some questionable defending from Macarthur.

It was not until the 90th minute that Macarthur would draw one back. Substitute Lachlan Rose scored his first A-League goal to make it 2-1, with little time for the Bulls to claim even a point.

The Roar defended strongly throughout the night and caught Macarthur off guard with threatening counterattacks but it was the unforced errors and failure to capitalise that ultimately lead to the Bulls undoing.
