Milicic delighted with Bull’s performance

Bull’s coach Ante Milicic was delighted with the performance of his team after comfortably beating a rather quiet Perth Glory side 2-0 on Friday night.

Milicic used the same starting eleven for the third consecutive game and is starting to see a build in chemistry.

“Today we had the same eleven now, that’s the third game in a row and I think the understanding was clear for everyone to see,” Milicic said.

“Delighted with the way we played, which then gives you a chance with getting the three points.

“But also the clean sheets are important for us, that’s three in a row now and that gives us a platform to build on for sure.”

The Bulls have shown their fair share of weaknesses in defence since the start of the season, however, things are beginning to change and Milicic is pleased with what he is seeing.

“I was really pleased with the way we defended,” he said.

“I felt in the early stages of the season we conceded too many chances, particularly in the transition phase of the game.

“It’s something that we’ve worked on and we’ve identified, particularly when we know against most opponents we’re going to dominate possession and play in their half.

“There’s always that threat on the counter and even tonight you know you’re 2-0 up against a side that has Castro and Fornaroli, you’re never going to rest.

“I was pleased with what we did with the ball but also I thought we really limited their opportunities.”

However, there is one man that Milicic believes he is playing a major role in the team’s performance.

“It starts with Matty. Matty Derbyshire.”

“People look at his goals tonight, but he’s come here and his work rate is excellent.

“And what he brings to the team off the ball and he starts the press for us, so it was a good collective effort from everyone.”

Perth Glory is the first in four home games Macarthur have this month, so this is the perfect opportunity for Milicic’s men to further improve their chemistry and collect as many points possible.
