Wellington Phoenix confident ahead of opening game

-

Wellington Phoenix coach Ufuk Talay is confident his team can hit the ground running in its opening game against Macarthur FC next week despite having another disrupted A-League Men’s preseason.

A precedent was set last season as the Nix will be based in Wollongong once again due to the covid-19 travel restrictions between New Zealand and Australia.

“It would be nice to be Wellington to be in front of our home fans, but I think our players have lived through this now, so they’ve adjusted to it,” Talay said.
“I think where we were now, we’re quite comfortable and I think the training facilities are very good as well.”
Wellington narrowly missed on finals last season, finishing seventh and with a younger squad for the upcoming campaign, it would take a brave fan to back it in an Aussie online casino.
“Winning games in preseason is not that important. It’s more about how we want to play and how we want do things,” Talay added.
“It’s been good and winning games in preseason is good because it builds confidence as we have a younger squad this year, but the hit outs have been good.”

However, with the Nix being geographically closer to its parts this season, meilleur jeu casino may well see some people backing the yellow and black from New Zealand.
Talay also believes having less experienced players in his team could also help in this particular situation.
“Being disjointed again, having certain players in New Zealand and certain players away, we’ve come a bit more accustomed to it,” he said.
“We’ve got a younger group and they’re very adaptive. It makes the job easier for me as we can concentrate on football. Is it the best way to start a season? No it isn’t, but I don’t make excuses, we’ll pick out best XI and we’ll be competitive and play a certain brand of football.”
