Roar have struggled to find their feet since the start of the 2021/22 A-League Men season.

But the Roar’s most recent fixture showed the league what the side is capable of, completely shutting out the Wanderers in an emphatic 3-0 win and Moon couldn’t be happier with his squad.

“It’s not been the start we wanted. But what we’ve focussed on is our performance and I think what this was tonight was an excellent Brisbane Roar performance,” Moon said.

“When you keep a cleansheet, you’re obviously delighted as a coach and I’m very happy.”

Moon made a point of praising his team’s defence against the Wanderers.

“I thought tonight we limited them to only a handful of chances and not many clear-cut ones,” he said.

“I think everyone tonight defended collectively. From the front, the midfielders behind them as well.

“Tonight was really satisfying.”

Moon also praised individual players in his side.

“[Henry Hore’s] done well and we believed he’s good enough to get to this level and he showed tonight that he’s a good player.”

“He’s contributed already and there’s only more to come from him.”

Goalscorers Rahmat Akbari and Nikola Mileusnic got some praise from Moon too.

“[Rahmat’s] been going very well for us and tonight was another good performance,” Moon said.

“[Nikola’s] been going very well. I think as a coach you don’t just look at the key moments in the game and he’s been consistently topping our high-speeds, distances, and running metres every week.

“He works extremely hard for the team. Defensively, he’s so strong for us as well which probably goes unnoticed so he’s doing his job and he’s creating chances.”

Despite tonight’s win, the Roar remain in the bottom half of the ALM table.

Moon wants his side to build from this performance.

“We want to play well in front of our home fans first and foremost,” he said.

“But we want to get results and want to win so if we could do it at home that’s fantastic, but we just got to keep building from tonight’s performance.
