Sydney FC – Voldemort

A powerful character that is a force to be reckoned with and despised by many but still rallies a strong fanbase – Sydney FC have experienced similar following their success in the A-League Men.

Voldemort seeks immortality and will endeavour ruthless acts to ensure he gets there, just as Sydney can hope to carry on being the leading club with the most championships and premierships under their belts.

Melbourne City – Horace Slughorn

The potions professor who was bought out of retirement in efforts to defeat Lord Voldemort. Slughorn went into hiding after Voldemort resurfaced as he felt shame in assisting him within areas of dark magic.

Slughorn’s return and expertise in potions assisted Harry in retrieving a memory in efforts to defeat the Dark Lord.

As such, Melbourne City emerged to steal the title away from Sydney. City claimed their first championship last season and could very well go for another this season as they sit comfortably at the top.

Western United – Severus Snape

In his earlier years, Snape had been subject to ridicule before building a powerful profile within Hogwarts and the wizarding world.

As the series progresses so does Snape’s character, known for his hard exterior and being a skilled wizard, his loyalties continued to be questioned which becomes the mystery behind his character.

While Western United have not been in the league for long, they have placed from mid to bottom and recently progressing to the top ranks only within three seasons, leaving fans questioning what exactly this side has to offer.

Melbourne Victory – Bellatrix Lestrange

Bellatrix was broken out of Azkaban prison and is known for torturing others and engaging acts of cruelty including killing her cousin and niece. Bellatrix will do anything to be the best and most devoted servant to Voldemort.

She is known to outduel subjects, sporting victories due to her ability and element of insaneness while emitting main character energy.

Victory follow suit to Sydney, one championship behind their five-time record, more recently Victory are being recognised for their display in strengths this season following two seasons in the darkness.

Western Sydney Wanderers – Neville Longbottom

Neville is portrayed as a clumsy, mediocre student who was told that he was or never will be good enough by his own grandmother only to eventually build courage and hold a great amount of perseverance.

His parents were tortured into insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange and he is not shy from sharing the fact with others, Neville’s driving force throughout the series is to make right by the Longbottom name.

Like Neville, Wanderers have been working on reinventing their own name, by bringing in new management and working on their inner issues following their fall after the 2015/16 season.

Brisbane Roar – Barty Crouch Jr

Barty Crouch Jr spent some time under an imperious curse and hidden under the cloak of invisibility in efforts to keep him from rejoining the Dark Lord. Long story short, Crouch Jr infiltrated Hogwarts, murdered his father in faithfulness to Voldemort before being taken by a dementor.

Brisbane Roar’s wins this season under coach Warren Moon has linked Moon to being a ‘coach killer’; victories against Western Sydney Wanderers and Perth Glory left both coaches sacked following Roar’s defeat.

Adelaide United – Ron Weasley

Ron Weasley; a boy among men. Ron being one of the main characters and loyal friend to Harry Potter, he was often overlooked despite his intelligence and sacrifice in getting Harry as far as he did.

Adelaide United are often associated among the top but their accomplishments are underwhelming. Like Ron, the Reds remain in the shadows compared to the top guns.

Wellington Phoenix – Xenophilius Lovegood

Xenophilius was a publisher to his own beliefs and had a way with being a judge of character, he was more commonly known for being the father to Luna Lovegood. Xenophilius was a fan of Harry, however, gave information as to his whereabouts in order to get Luna back.

In the Nix’s attempts to keep the finals fight alive, they’re willing to turn against all in order to get there. While Wellington have been working with all the forces against them, they continue to rise to the challenge and stay true to their vision.

Perth Glory – Gilderoy Lockhart

Harry Potter’s second defence against the dark arts professor, Lockhart had a rise to fame in the wizarding world through his best-seller books based off experiences against the dark arts.

Before being wiped of his memory and falling victim to permanent amnesia, Lockhart revealed that his success was an act; he had been sharing stories of other witches and wizards’ experiences and in fact had been taking their stories as his own.

A club which once had success as premiers now find themselves questioning ‘who am I?’ following this season’s inability to perform, despite having the resume to prove otherwise.

Newcastle Jets – Garrick Ollivander

Ollivander is an elderly wand maker which students flock to in order to find their perfect match. Having been around for some time, Ollivander knows a good thing when he sees it. He does not summon a lot of strength but finds a way to continue on throughout the series.

Newcastle Jets established their championship win during the youth of the competition and ever since have mostly resided towards the lower end of the table as they continue their business without disturbing others.

Macarthur FC – Cormac McClaggen

Cormac is a character with confidence and proudness in his abilities but, it is his character which left him unpopular with his peers.

Cormac spoke a mean game but in doing so was jinxed by a confundus charm and flops in his try-out for Gryffindor’s quidditch keeper.

Like Cormac, Macarthur made a late entrance and while the Campbelltown side consist of strong and talented individuals, they are yet to claim any silverware.

Central Coast Mariners – Moaning Myrtle

Moaning Myrtle is a ghost who whines, cries and sulks all while haunting the girls’ bathroom at Hogwarts.

When befriended, she can prove an ally in providing information not known amongst all.

The Mariners fans may haunt the stadiums, just as Myrtle did, until they’re back to winning ways as like the 2020/21 season.
