The opening minutes of the game saw plenty of end-to-end play from both teams.

With a spot in the top six beginning to slip through their fingers, the Jets had everything to play for.

With 10 minutes played, neither team had made any real impact and the first goal of the game was still anyones to grab.

The 13th minute saw a yellow card handed to debutant Jayden Gorman for a foul on Daniel Penha. The home side and their fans weren’t content with a yellow, however, with the decision going to VAR. The decision was upheld with Gorman remaining on the field despite many calling for a red card.

Despite the drama, Penha went on to score the first goal of the game in the 21st minute. Valentino Yuel picked out a smooth pass to Penha, allowing him to take a straight shot at goal to make it 1-0.

The combination of Penha and Beka Mikeltadze looked to have made it 2-0 in the 28th minute but a desperate effort from Perth Glory saw the ball stay out of the net.

It didn’t take long for Mikeltadze to get his first goal of the night, taking his season tally to 10 and make it 2-0 in favour of the home side.

Angus Thurgate had his chance to make it 3-0 in the 34th minute, however, the ball went just wide of the side post.

Mikeltadze went on to get his second and the Jets’ third of the afternoon soon after with an assist from Ingham, putting them three clear of Glory.

After dominating the first half, it was Newcastle going into the break 3-0 up over Glory.

Just five minutes into the second half of the game, the Jets well and truly wrapped it up. A second goal to Penha in the 50th minute made it 4-0.

Newcastle continued their domination early in the second half with Glory afforded very little opportunities.

Ciaran Bramwell crushed Newcastle’s cleansheet dreams in the 69th minute, getting Glory’s first goal of the night to make it 4-1.

A penalty awarded to the Jets for a tackle on Dylan Murnane saw Mikeltadze get a hat-trick and make it 5-1.

Newcastle weren’t content with five goals and Yuel made it 6-1 in the 81st minute as he celebrated his 50th league appearance in style.

At the blow of the full-time whistle, Newcastle walked away clear winners over Perth.
