Alex Parsons has found his space to thrive as one of Sydney FC’s newest signings, inspired and excited by the ‘ambition’ of the club.
The former Brisbane Roar attacker has made the big interstate move to make his Sky Blue debut, joining the most successful club in A-League Men history on a two-year contract.
The young forward sees this new chapter as an important step in his football career.
“It’s a really strong club to be a part of, it’s challenging obviously, but that’s really what you want as a footballer because you need that to progress,” Parsons said.
“It’s just the ambition of the club, with the new stadium, new training ground and a few new faces around the group too, it’s all just exciting to be a part of.
”
It’s nothing but onwards and upwards from here for Parsons.
The 22-year-old is driven by the opportunity to be amongst of some of the more experienced players in the club, as well as being under the management of well-established coach, Steve Corica.
“Being at training day in and day out where you’ve got players around you like Le Fondre, Lolley, Mak, the list can go on,” he said.
“You get to see the little things and learn from them.
“Also, working under Steve Corica, who has had such a good career as a player and now as a coach as well, I think it’s a really good environment for a young player like myself to be in.”
Parsons said that the transition between clubs has been a seamless one.
He is nothing but optimistic about how he will continue to gel with his new squad as the season progresses.
“We’ve got a really good group here; all the boys have been really welcoming.
We’ve got a really good environment together as a team, and hopefully that gives us the catalyst to push forward this season,” he said.
“Sydney can be very chaotic at times, but I’m enjoying the change and looking forward to see what’s to come.”
