W-League: The Juggernaut called Sydney FC

-

Who is going to stop Sydney?

The Sydney FC girls are looking quite sweet. Coach Alen Stajcic certainly has his players humming and their results show it.

On paper Canberra United are a team who should be a prospect. With arguably the best defensive lineup in the competition featuring fabulous central defenders Ellie Brush and Caitlin Cooper, wing defenders Ellyse Perry and Lyndsay Glohe along with ‘keeper Lydia Williams at the back not to mention Sally Shipard holding in front, Canberra should do well.

But the combination’s up front don’t look completed.

They certainly have the quality there but as yet I don’t feel they are combining well enough. As opposed to Sydney, who’s pointy front end who looks quite well drilled and working as one. These two are yet to play each other.

Brisbane Roar have played Sydney and lost 4-2 in the first game. But Brisbane will come back and will certainly be a threat to Sydney when the finals are played. I feel they will only improve over the short W-League season.

Maybe the only other team to trouble Sydney on the day could be Melbourne Victory who do have some quality over the field and may, as can happen with soccer, cause an upset. Let good football play and time will tell.
