Jets down Mariners in F3 Derby cracker

-

Newcastle have defeated Central Coast 2-1 in an action packed 27th F3 Derby at Hunter Stadium.
The game wasn’t a minute old when Rubin Zadkovich picked up the first yellow card which was lucky to be only yellow after a horrible studs up challenge.

It was only four minutes later when Emile Heskey was awarded a lucky penalty which Ryan Griffith duly converted in-front of the 15,289 fans.

The Mariners had the bulk share of the first half possession and were unlucky to go into the sheds down at half time.

After half time though, it was a different story with the Jets gaining the majority of the possession and it was that man Heskey who doubled the lead on 62 minutes after a brilliant James Virgili run and pass.

The Mariners got one back with twenty minutes to go through substitute Ibini to make for an exciting finish, but it wasn’t to be for Central coast as Newcastle were able to hold on (just) for the three points.
