FIFA 13 Grand Final Simulation

-

To get you pumped up for today’s A-League Grand Final we at The Sack got our hands on FIFA 13 (PC) and simulated the match to see who may well be crowned 2012/13 A-league Champions. We put it on ‘Legendary’ and ‘5 minute halves’ and tried to pick out the line-ups that will be making the field at Allianz Stadium.

The A-League Grand Final

Western Sydney Wanderers v Central Coast Mariners
4:00pm – Allianz Stadium

Team News

Wanderers – Shannon Cole and Jerome Polenz take the left and right back spots whilst Yianni Perkatis keeps his spot at central midfield with Aaron Mooy on the bench. For this one we think Labinot Haliti will get the nod over Kwabena Appiah-Kubi.
Mariners – Oliver Bozanic will take Nick Montgomery’s place in the line-up with Mile Sterjovski starting at central striker over Mitchell Duke.

The first half was very defensive as both teams have the best defensive record and stats in the A-League. Only two chances were created all half with Dino Kresinger setting up Mark Bridge for a long range shot which went just over the bar and Daniel McBreen making a chance for himself which just skimmed the outside of the side post.

In the second half both McBreen and Labinot Haliti had great chances to grab the lead within the space of a couple of minutes.

The game started to open up mid-way through the second half with Mariners having a couple more chances to get in the lead with McBreen with a shot on target but brilliantly saved by Ante Covic.

and then a defensive block by Michael Beauchamp potentially stops Michael McGlinchey from scoring.

Eventually after a tight contest and 0-0 after 120 minutes it came down to penalties.

Penalty 1 [WSW] was taken by Shinji Ono and went wide. (0-0)

Penalty 2 [CCM] was taken by Patrick Zwaanswijk and sent Ante Covic the wrong way and scored. (CCM 1-0)

Penalty 3 [WSW] was taken by Mark Bridge and was finished off into the top right corner of the net. (1-1)

Penalty 4 [CCM] was taken by Mile Sterjovski and flew right over the bar. (1-1)

Penalty 5 [WSW] was taken by Shannon Cole and went straight into Matt Ryans hands. (1-1)

Penalty 6 [CCM] was taken by Pedj Bojic and he scored sending Ante Covic the other way. (CCM 2-1)

Penalty 7  [WSW] was taken by Mateo Poljak and went into the back of the net leaving Matt Ryan on his two feet. (2-2)

Penalty 8 [CCM] was taken by John Hutchinson and again Ante Covic went the wrong way and the Mariners convert. (CCM 3-2)

Penalty 9 [WSW] was taken by Dino Kresinger and he made a powerful shot which went straight past Matt Ryan. (3-3)

Penalty 10 [CCM] was taken by Josh Rose and if he scores than Central Coast Mariners win and so he did making a cheeky shot straight through the middle with Ante Covic failing to recover to make the save.

FIFA has spoken. Central Coast Mariners to win 4-3 on penalties (0-0 after 120 minutes)
