After an entertaining couple of semi-finals, the scene is set…this Saturday night’s BPL Grand Final will be between Peninsula Power and Lions FC. Here’s how they got there.
Wolves FC 1:3 Peninsula Power
Penisnula Power turned in a magnificent first half performance to sweep away pre-match favourites Wolves and reach this week’s BPL Grand Final.
Everyone will be talking about…
Richard Hurlin’s first-half double. After celebrating a spectacular free-kick opener as early as the second minute, Hurlin stepped up on the stroke of half time to convert from the spot and seal the result.
Yeah, but what happened?
Literally living up to their name, Peninsula’s power up through the middle and up front was too much for Wolves to handle. If Hurlin’s early goal was a set-back, Ally Graham’s strike just four minutes later spelled an early end for Wolves. A Christopher Knowles consolation on full-time was meaningless as Power made it three out of three over Wolves this season.

Lions FC 2:1 Rochedale Rovers
A late Kentaro Ishikawa goal completed Lions’ comeback and booked the Minor Premiers a place in this Saturday’s Grand Final.

Yeah, but what happened?
Rochedale got off to the best possible start as early pressure paid off within ten minutes. Sanjeev Henny’s strike silenced the home crowd and seemed to give Rovers further belief as they dominated the opening stanza. But as good teams do, Lions found a goal from no-where, although the source was as reliable as they come. Having announced his retirement at the conclusion of the home and away season, Greg Thomas produced another golden strike to bring his team back into the contest. It was anyone’s match after that, with both side’s sharing chances. It looked like the match might be headed for extra-time, when Kentaro Ishikawa scored the winner – a Grand final clincher.
