Chloe Logarzo continued her fine form in front of goal as she opened the scoring for Sydney FC in their 4-1 rout of cross-town rivals Western Sydney Wanderers.
Logarzo’s goal against Western Sydney in yesterday’s encounter marked her third in as many games as the Sky Blues cruised to victory over their rivals to secure second place on the W-League Ladder and preserve their nine-match unbeaten record as they head into the finals series.
Her three goals in the final three matches of the regular season has seen the 23-year-old skyrocket up the scoring charts and finish as the club’s fourth highest goal scorer behind Remy Siemsen, Kylie Ledbrook and Lisa De Vanna.
Currently in her second stint with the Sky Blues, the 23-year-old’s purple patch in front of goal began against Perth Glory in round 11 when she scored the second goal of the encounter to secure a 2-0 win for her side.
The midfielder’s goal against Glory was her first since she opened her account for the Matildas in their 5-1 mauling of China in November while her last goal in club football arrived in late August when she was playing for Norwegian outfit Avaldsnes.
Since returning to the W-League this season, Logarzo has been an ever present in Sydney’s midfield alongside experienced stalwart Kylie Ledbrook. The pair have controlled the centre of the park for the Sky Blues and have eased the goal scoring responsibilities off the shoulders of Caitlin Foord with their telling impact in the final third.
The Sky Blues duo will be integral to coach Ante Juric’s game plan as they prepare for their finals series showdown with Newcastle Jets. The Jets along with Brisbane Roar are the only two teams in the competition which Juric’s side failed to beat.
Sydney lost their first-round encounter against Roar while they were second best against Newcastle the first-time round and only managed a 2-2 draw with the Hunter outfit in their latest match-up.
With the impregnable partnership of Logarzo and Ledbrook, Sydney will look to overthrow the Jets in what is sure to be a high scoring affair between the two sides.
