The Football Sack Podcast names line-up for Russia 2018

-

The Football Sack Podcast producer Christian Layland has named several fresh faces in his team for Russia 2018.

Layland, a veteran of The Football Sack’s three previous World Cup podcasts, appears to have bowed to calls from the media for an injection of new blood.

The new-look podcast have already hit the ground running and will be releasing episodes on iTunes and Podbean throughout the tournament.

Ben Smith and Louis Granich will lead the lines for The Football Sack during the tournament, while Aaron Corlett could provide some much-needed X-factor in the final third.

Meanwhile, Stuart Horton, Jeremy Truong and Sean Fry will provide some much-needed depth off the bench for the three-time award-winning podcast.

Smith, the inspirational, affable captain (who definitely did not write this article), said while the pre-tournament camp Layland had put them through may have been illegal in several countries, it had been the perfect preparation for Russia 2018.

“Credit to the boys, the camp was tough and I’m still kept up at night, haunted by some of the stuff I witnessed during the camp, but we gave it the full 110%,” he said, invoking more cliches than he could shake a stick at.

“We’ll take it one pod at a time and hope the Cahilltex jokes haven’t run out of gas by the end of the tournament.”

Smith said he wanted this edition to be more than just another football podcast.

“We’re hopefully going to fully immerse ourselves in Russian culture throughout the tournament to bring you the most authentic experience possible,” he said.

“We’re hoping to do a special, vodka-inspired episode, as well as discuss how best to seize the means of production and rig the election of the world’s most powerful country.”
