Top Five W-League Goals of the Season

-

With an abundance of quality goals being scored in the W-League this season, it’s hard to narrow down just which ones were the best.

But don’t worry, we’ve done the hard work for you. Now that the season is over, you can sit back, relax, and re-live the best five goals of the season.

  1. Alanna Kennedy

Alanna Kennedy is a free kick specialist, no doubt about that. We’ve seen her score a number of times from dead ball positions, but her strike against Melbourne Victory is certainly one to feast your eyes on.

  1. Sofia Huerta

You can’t leave out the international’s sweet strike in the Grand Final. Huerta scored the first goal of the match for Sydney FC, and it was pure class. From the edge of the box the American wound up and rocketed her shot into the top right corner.

  1. Cortnee Vine

The Newcastle Jets attacker scored an absolute wonder-strike against Canberra United in round three. Her right-footed strike curled left to right around the Canberra keeper, giving Newcastle the 1-0 advantage just before half time. It’s definitely one to watch.

  1. Melina Ayres

The 19-year-old knows how to score a good goal as we’ve seen in the past two W-League seasons where she played at Melbourne City. In the 2018/19 season she moved to the Victory and scored this cracker from long range against the Newcastle Jets.

  1. Sam Kerr

No list of top goals would be complete without a Sam Kerr pearler. She scored this one during Perth Glory’s 5-2 win over Melbourne City. Watch her dribble half the field, take on half the team and finish it off with a sweet strike in the bottom left corner.

There’s been plenty of world-class goals scored during the 2018/19 W-League season – if you think we missed one that should’ve been a top five contender, let us know!
