Brisbane Roar added depth to their defensive ranks ahead of the 2020/21 A-League season with the signing of left-back Josh Brindell-South from Lions FC. buy tadora online buy tadora online no prescription
The 27-year-old Queenslander signed a deal in early October with the club he has supported since he was a kid.
“It’s a massive dream come true to be playing for your hometown club, it’s almost surreal in a way” said Brindell-South.
Playing under Warren Moon for the last two and a half years helped Josh make the decision to play for the Roar an easy one.
“We’ve got a pretty good relationship on the pitch and I understand what he wants from me. I’d like to think he got the best out of me when I was at Lions FC.”
Winning the premiership is the goal for Brisbane Roar this season after a disappointing early finals exit in the 2019/20 campaign.
Brindell-South is used to success and hopes that the same winning culture he had at Lions FC can be replicated at the top level with the Roar.
“When you are used to winning it’s almost instilled in your mind. Being at Lions we would go into every game knowing that we had a good shot at winning.
“If we can get off to a good start [in the A-League], and everyone stays fit and healthy we are definitely in with a shot.”
Josh insists he is more prepared for the challenges of the A-League this time around, after a short stint in 2013/14 with the Wellington Phoenix came to an end due to an ankle injury.
“I’m more comfortable, more grown up, I’m a better player and a better all-round person. I think I’m better equipped this time compared to last time.
”
With the Roar’s offensive struggles coach Warren Moon might look for a creative spark which could come from Brindell-South.
The versatile defender has made an instant impact scoring twice in pre-season friendlies against Rochedale Rovers and NPL Queensland Premiers Peninsula Power.
“For me scoring isn’t what I need to do, obviously I need to focus on the defensive side of things but if I can get forward and contribute to goals then that’s a bonus.”
While scoring goals is not his main role in the side it certainly helps Josh stand out as both a defensive and attacking option.
Brindell-South joins the A-League’s best defensive unit which conceded only 28 goals throughout the 2019/20 campaign.
