Despite looking promising in the opening 30 minutes, the home side was reduced to 10 men after two yellow cards to Elvis Kamsoba.
Sydney utilised their numerical advantage in the space of 10 minutes, as Bobo tapped in a Kosta Barbarouses cut-back.
Coach Grant Brebner admitted the first yellow card may have been warranted but was left unhappy with the fourth official influencing referee Daniel Elder.
“I’ve got no problem with [a] fourth official intervening to suggest that’s a yellow card, but at what point do we draw the line,” he said.
“I’d understand if that was a straight red, but to stop the game, tell the referee it should have been a yellow, then it needs to happen at every opportunity and every time.”
The second yellow was especially undeserved according to the Victory coach.
“I don’t think it was a bad tackle. It wasn’t a lot in it to be honest,” Brebner said.
“It was very harsh to go down to 10 men in the matter of the two yellow cards.”
In the second half things went from bad to worse, as Barbarouses found the back of the net.
Alexander Baumjohann made it a comfortable margin for Sydney from the penalty spot with 10 minutes to go.
If Victory played with 11 men, Brebner believes the game could have gone either way.
Despite another frustrating setback, he expects a response from his side in the upcoming matches.
“We’ll absolutely keep fighting,” said the Victory coach.
Victory will play the Newcastle Jets next Saturday afternoon at McDonald Jones Stadium.
