Oddsmakers tend to get it right most of the time, however there is a team that is being underrated majorly in the outright betting odds currently.
Mid-table Wellington Phoenix have the second highest odds to win the Grand Final at 26-1.
This is a massive surprise considering they are in sixth place currently.
Betting on the Wellington Phoenix to win the Grand Final would give major profit like if you were betting at the Ricky Casino in Australia.
First of all winning an A-League Men’s Grand Final is about showing up against the best of the best.
Wellington Phoenix have surprisingly done just that this season, they are unbeaten against the top four currently.
They have drawn away from home against first and second placed sides Melbourne City and Western Sydney Wanderers.
Wellington have also beaten third placed Macarthur 4-1 and fourth placed Adelaide United 3-1 respectively.
Their form has been very inconsistent though, especially against the weaker sides.
One positive sign is they have one of the best goal differences in the league of two goals.
This is because in many games they have conceded late on in matches they had been dominating.
They should be much higher on the table but have dropped key points in several games.
One example of this is against Western United where they conceded two goals in the 84th and 95th minutes to lose 3-2.
The additions of experienced players Alex Rufer and David Ball who were both injured at the start of the season have been crucial since then though.
Rufer was immense in his return match off the bench, a 3-1 win at home against Adelaide.
Ball and Rufer will be key players if the Phoenix are to go far, due to their class and experience in this competition.
A lot of advanced statistics show Wellington will rise up the ladder if they keep playing the way they are as well.
For example, they rank second in big chances missed with 14.
If they are more clinical like they were on the weekend they will be a force to be reckoned with.
This is because the team are creating heaps of chances. In terms of key chances created, they also rank second in the league.
The side’s defence has been their weakness though, with 14 goals been conceded, one of the worst in the competition.
However, the stats show they have been slightly unlucky. Their expected goals against is only 10.5, 3.5 less than what they have actually conceded.
It is ridiculous that Wellington Phoenix are paying the second highest odds to win the A-League Men’s Grand Final at 26-1.
The advanced statistics show that they underachieved massively so far, even though they are unbeaten against the top four sides so far this season.
Alex Rufer and David Ball brings the side back to full-strength. They are both key players who weren’t available at the start of the season.
It is definitely worth a cheeky bet at 26-1 odds for the New Zealand club to win their first A-League Grand Final.
There are definitely a lot worse bets to be made and these odds are just too good to pass up on!
